Signature HealthCARE (SHC) of Fayette County is proud to announce that Geri Stevens, Admissions and Marketing Director at the local nursing center, has been named to the United Way of Fayette County board of directors.
She was chosen from several nominees and will be sworn in during a ceremony later this month.
Stevens has been a social worker for more than 30 years and relocated six months ago to Washington Court House from Richmond, Ind. During her time in Richmond, she was involved in a number of community outreach efforts, serving on boards for a local credit union, the Board of Realtors and the Chamber of Commerce.
Stevens cited the amount of need in Fayette County and praised the local United Way chapter for all its relief efforts such as providing school supplies for local children and supporting a local family whose house was destroyed in a fire just after Christmas.
“Whenever a family needs it, they’re there, and it’s totally awesome,” she said.
During her short period of time in Ohio, Stevens has already been busy getting involved with local groups and agencies. She will soon begin volunteering her time each week to deliver ‘meals on wheels’ through the Fayette County Commission on Aging and said giving back to the local community is important to her both personally and professionally.
Stevens also praised Signature HealthCARE, for being mission-oriented in its approach to health care delivery, noting the facility’s recent five-star score on quality measures and saying that having a full-time chaplain on hand “has been a blessing.”
“I’ve never seen anything like it,” she said. “It all aligns really well, especially in a rural community where everyone is so close-knit.”
